If you happened to read the other comments, you will see one from a woman in Colorado, who, at the time she wrote me had said the particular pet cemetery where Geronimo was buried was under threat of destruction. I was not able to help her at the time because of a serious illness with my husband so I do not know if the cemetery and grave still exists or not. I sure hope so but suspect the big business people won out. He may be the great-great-grandfather of my brother-in-law for whom I'm researching.

Let me start at the beginning. Ron's grandmother is Hattie E. Coleman whose parents, according to her marriage record, are William C. Coleman and Anna Loudon. I find plenty of documentation for Anna--even a second marriage after William's death. What I haven't been able to find are any primary sources for birth, marriage or death for William. John & Margaret's son is the most likely candidate as Hattie's father, but because I haven't found the documentation to prove it, I hesitate to connect them.

Can you help?? I am a native of Alliance and have grown up surrounded by our local history and of course hearing lots of stories etc about town and the Army Air Base. I volunteer often at our local museum which is also our genealogy center here.

I think the museum MAY have a newspaper clipping of what you mentioned, I'm not sure but I have seen that or a similar one someplace. I would be thrilled and grateful if you are willing to share it with me. I keep thinking that someday I would like to write more but time just gets away!

Thanks so much for your note, I look forward to hearing from you.Cheri Hopkins aka You Go Genealogy Girl #2https://www.blogger.com/profile/17792786622751019882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8178493735499757701.post-12994837112669393242012-07-05T16:40:35.615-06:002012-07-05T16:40:35.615-06:00Cheri, One of moms old beaus was Cecil Collier of...Cheri, One of moms old beaus was Cecil Collier of Lakeview, Oregon. He must have been in this same group as he sent pictures home to her. One of the pictures is of "Geronimo and his owner Kenneth Williams" as written on the back. Another picture is of Geronimo coming down and on the back is "Geronimo his fifth jump". Wish I had found this sooner as mom passed away April 29,2009. I would be happy to send you a copy of Geronimo as he is coming down. My grandma used to make it for us around Christmas time and it is a cherished memory of mine, just like you write here. I was prompted to post a comment when I looked at your blog tags and saw several Wyoming tags, including Wheatland Wyoming tags. While my grandmother is from Montana, she lives in Wyoming and my other grandma and my father are from Wheatland. So I thought, I wonder if suet pudding is common in that area? Just a thought. Your recipe is very similar to my grandma's, right down to the use of coffee cans in a steamer.
I just wanted to say "Hi" and share my thoughts with you.Clinton Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02152048527944373385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8178493735499757701.post-19725024656463434802011-10-09T19:04:29.667-06:002011-10-09T19:04:29.667-06:00I can't imagine how hard these pioneers had it...I can't imagine how hard these pioneers had it with death being so commonplace - husbands, wives, young children... poor Hannah losing nearly half of her babies.

How blessed your family is with this diary, and to get a glimpse of the journey directly from a participant!
